Pregnant Callie Greenwood is tired of what’s happening in her life. Her (sort of) ex-boyfriend is a sleaze, her boss overworks her, and both her parents are gone. Single dad Brody has been hurt before and doesn’t want to get his or his son’s hopes up. Callie decides to spend Christmas with her aunt Ellie at her bed and breakfast and meets Brody and his three-year-old son Corbin. She feels an immediate attraction to Brody and absolutely falls in love with the adorable toddler who is obsessed with Frozen.
Callie’s ex-boyfriend Jase has been dating her on and off for the past two years, and she’s finally done with him- he knocked her up, is a complete jerk, and sleeps with anyone and everyone when they’re in one of their off datings. She’s pregnant with his child, and he couldn’t care enough to come to any of the ultrasounds, even when they learned the sex, and he refuses to pay for anything.
Callie is a beautician, mainly working on hair. She works at a salon in her city, with the most horrible boss ever. Her friend Gia, who has a boyfriend and a little girl, also works at the salon with her. Right before Callie goes up to her aunt’s bed and breakfast for Christmas, she quits. Her plan is to open her own salon, and hopefully, the clientele that she’s been working with for over a year now would follow her to her own salon. Callie gets to her aunt’s, and the next morning meets Brody. She also meets his adorable little son and immediately connects with the boy. She also feels a connection to his father.
Brody’s wife, Zoe, killed herself when Corbin was only three months old, and Brody assumes it was because she developed postpartum depression. Brody had a mental breakdown and was placed in a psych ward for six months afterward. Reunited with his son, Brody and Corbin live on the bed and breakfast’s property, in a converted barn loft. Brody doesn’t think that he can let another woman into his life after his wife died. However, after only a couple weeks of knowing Callie, his heart has been melted, and he decides to give her a chance.
The epilogue was wonderful, giving the story the closing that it needed, and I’m very happy with what happened. (you’ll have to read to find out).
